Although funded at various levels by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Attorney General, Huronia Transition Homes must fundraise every year to meet the ongoing needs of the women and children we serve.
In order to meet our fundraising goals – and raise awareness and promote activism – we organize several events throughout the year in our communities. We also have an “Adopt-A-Family” program.
Your support ensures we maintain our current level of service.
Please check back regularly for updates and information concerning each event.
Reflections Gala
Our annual Reflections Gala brings members of our communities out for a night of fun with entertainment, dinner and auctions. As our most significant fundraiser, we count on the generosity of local businesses, volunteers and supporters.

December 6th Ceremony
National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women
Each year, La maison Rosewood Shelter, along with Canadians and organizations across the nation, hold a ceremony for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. We remember the 14 women murdered in 1989 at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal. We remember the women killed that year by their partners. We welcome everyone to join us. First mourn. Then work for change.

Take Back the Night
September 22, 2011 at the Barrie City Hall Rotunda from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Each year, Athena’s Sexual Assault Counselling and Advocacy Centre organizes Take Back the Night, an internationally held march and rally intended as a protest and direct action against rape and other forms of violence against women. This event enables large numbers of women to publicly express their anger at the sexual violence that goes on and the victim blaming that accompanies it.

Bathtub Project
Annually from February to March
By donating new and unused feminine essentials, you can make a difference in the lives of the women and children in your community.
Adopt-A-Family
Help moms and their children along the journey to new beginnings … Adopt-A-Family!
Our Adopt-A-Family program requires a $900 donation to support one family.
Whether you’re able to Adopt-A-Family yourself, or want to take up the challenge with friends, relatives, co-workers or other organizations, it’s a great way to give back to your community! One suggestion: Service clubs, industries, schools or churches could enter into a friendly competition by issuing a challenge.
While we receive government funding, the annual allocation determines the nature of the services we can provide, not necessarily what abused women and their children in our community need. Many services are not funded or are underfunded and consequently cannot be delivered by our staff.
We look forward to the day when violence against women and their children is a history lesson. Add your name to our list of supporters now!
