Huronia Transition Homes is a multi-program organization providing service to women in Simcoe County who have experienced violence, and/or homelessness. We have a strong and genuine commitment to anti-racist and anti-oppression values, and our agency is rooted within a harm reduction and intersectional feminist framework.

We are growing! One of our programs, Athena’s Sexual Assault Counselling & Advocacy Centre, is undergoing a program expansion of counselling services and is currently hiring skilled counsellors. These are bargaining unit positions working from our Barrie office located at 80 Bradford street.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma within a counselling discipline (BSW/MSW preferred) with a minimum of 3-5 years counselling/group facilitation experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma
  • Comprehensive understanding of the issues and complexities of the impact of violence against women including sexual assault and intimate partner violence, with a strong feminist analysis
  • Knowledge of and commitment to working within an intersectional feminist and harm reduction framework
  • An understanding of and an ability to work with diverse women including women from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Tact, sound judgment and multi-tasking ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel within Simcoe County, valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
